    Sodium percarbonate is known as an oxygen bleach. Sodium percarbonate is formed when sodium carbonate has been treated with hydrogen peroxide and when dissolved in water, releases a powerful combination of oxygenated hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate.

In traditional chlorine bleach, a highly toxic substance called sodium hypochlorite is used as the oxidizer. Chlorine bleach is very poisonous (dioxin and chloroform are by-products) and it can create highly toxic chlorine gas if mixed with ammonia.
